Over the 15 years that followed, he built an exceptional depth of experience working for some of the UK's most respected names in the industry: Matthew Hall Ltd, British Gas, and Worcester Bosch.

Proprietor — Andy Lander
Andy Lander is a gas, heating and plumbing engineer with over 30 years of hands-on experience in the industry — and a passion for the trade that has never dimmed. From his early days as an apprentice on construction sites across London, to his years with British Gas and Worcester Bosch, to running his own successful business from Surbiton — Andy has built a career defined by expertise, integrity and genuine care for his customers.
As a former British Gas engineer operating from the Mitcham depot, Andy developed deep expertise in the service and repair of all gas appliances in residential properties — boilers, warm air units, cookers and fires — across South London. His time with Worcester Bosch and Viessmann further honed his skills in warranty services and manufacturer-approved repairs, making him one of the most technically proficient engineers in the region.
"I also work part-time on an ad-hoc basis as a Gas Trainer, giving back to the industry and assisting newcomers in navigating the expansive plumbing and heating field, while also recertifying both existing engineers. This experience was enlightening for me and showed me that learning is a lifelong journey — as well as how fulfilling it is to share my wealth of experience and knowledge."

30 Years in the Making
Apprentice Plumber & Heating Engineer — Matthew Hall Ltd, London
Andy began his career as a Plumbing & Heating apprentice at Matthew Hall Ltd, a prominent mechanical and electrical installation firm based in London. He primarily worked on construction sites across the capital, installing commercial plumbing and heating systems in prestigious buildings — including those associated with some well-known celebrities. It was here that Andy developed the foundations of his technical expertise and work ethic that would define his career.
British Gas Engineer — South London (Mitcham Depot)
Andy advanced his career to British Gas, operating in and around South London from the Mitcham depot. Here he refined and deepened his skills, carrying out service and repair work on all gas appliances in residential properties — including gas boilers, warm air units, cookers and fires. His time at British Gas gave him exposure to an enormous variety of properties, systems and faults, developing the diagnostic expertise and customer-facing skills that would later become the hallmark of A.M. Lander.
Worcester Bosch & Viessmann Engineer — Warranty & Approved Repairs
Andy took on a specialist role providing warranty services and approved repairs for Worcester Bosch and Viessmann — two of Europe's most respected boiler manufacturers. This period gave Andy in-depth factory-level knowledge of these manufacturers' systems, earning him the Worcester Bosch Accredited Installer status he holds to this day. He gained and honed a significant amount of highly specialised knowledge during this period — knowledge that directly benefits every customer he works with today.

With over 15 years of experience under his belt working for some of the UK's biggest and most respected names in the industry, Andy took the decision to launch A.M. Lander Gas, Heating & Plumbing. The vision was simple: to offer the people of Surrey and South West London a genuinely outstanding local service — expert, honest, reliable and personal. Over a decade on, that vision has been realised. A.M. Lander has worked with well-known companies including British Gas, Worcester Bosch, Viessmann, Ideal, Vaillant, ATAG and Baxi, and in recent years has expanded its services to include renewable energy solutions — helping customers reduce their carbon footprint and energy bills through air source heat pump installation.
